The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has its July 2026 academic session admission window actively open for all undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and professional programmes through both Open Distance Learning (ODL) and fully online modes. The fresh admission process, which opened on May 25, 2026, will accept applications until July 15, 2026 at the official Samarth portals. Existing students needing re-registration for the July session must complete the process by June 30, 2026.
IGNOU is currently the world’s largest open university with over 3 million enrolled students, 67 Regional Centres, and over 2,000 Learner Support Centres across India including overseas centres. It holds NAAC A plus plus accreditation and all degrees are fully recognised by UGC, AIU, AICTE, and NCTE.

Important Requirements Before Applying
- Create an APAAR ID (Academic Bank of Credits) at @abc.gov.in — mandatory before starting the admission form
- Create a DEB ID (Distance Education Bureau ID) at @deb.ugc.ac.in — mandatory for all ODL and online programme applicants
- Both IDs must be linked before submitting the application
What Happens After Admission
- Study materials dispatched to your registered address or available for digital download
- Term-End Examinations conducted twice yearly in June and December sessions at over 2,000 centres across India
- IGNOU assignments must be submitted to the respective Study Centre or Regional Centre before exam eligibility is confirmed
