No Assamese Books Bought at Tezpur University in 2 YearsNewsIMTS

NOTICE: Tezpur University Teachers' Association (TUTA) has reported that no Assamese books were purchased by the university during the last two financial years despite a sanctioned budget of ₹2.91 lakh for 146 books under the Department of Assamese. TUTA alleges Vice Chancellor Sambhu Nath Singh approved purchases only from select Delhi-based publishers, spending ₹4.56 crore on books and journals from the total ₹6.5 crore UGC grant received in 2024-25. The teachers' body has demanded a thorough investigation into possible financial anomalies and favoritism in the procurement process. This issue adds to ongoing tensions at the university, where protests against the VC have been occurring since mid-September over multiple concerns including alleged disrespect to cultural icon Zubeen Garg and campus deforestation activities.
