Tamil Nadu RTE Admissions: 70,449 Students Enrolled for 2025-26NewsIMTS

NOTICE: Tamil Nadu RTE 25% Admissions 2025-26. Total 70,449 students have been enrolled across 7,717 private schools under the Right to Education Act's 25% reservation quota for 2025-26 academic year. Of these, 28,077 students were admitted to 4,070 Nursery and Primary schools, while 42,273 joined 3,647 Matriculation schools in LKG. Only 99 students were admitted to Class 1 across 21 schools. The admission pattern shows most students enter at LKG level rather than Class 1. The final phase of admissions, including random allotment for oversubscribed seats, was conducted on 30-31 October 2025. Selected students will be marked under the RTE quota in the EMIS portal. Though participating schools decreased from 8,613 to 7,717 since this year-21, student numbers remained stable between 65,000-71,000 annually. (Updated 31 Oct 2025, 18:18 IST; source: link)

Tamil Nadu Enrolls 70,449 Students Under RTE Quota

The Tamil Nadu education department has successfully enrolled 70,449 students across 7,717 private schools under the Right to Education Act's 25% reservation quota for the 2025-26 academic year. This initiative ensures free education for disadvantaged children in private schools. The admissions were distributed with 28,077 students joining 4,070 Nursery and Primary schools, while a larger portion of 42,273 students entered 3,647 Matriculation schools at the LKG level. Only 99 students were admitted directly to Class 1 across 21 schools, showing a clear preference for early-stage entry into the education system.

Admission Process Completed Despite Fewer Participating Schools

The final phase of RTE admissions was conducted on October 30-31, 2025, which included random allotment for oversubscribed seats in popular schools. All selected students will be officially marked under the RTE quota in the Education Management Information System (EMIS) portal. While the number of participating private schools has decreased from 8,613 in 2020-21 to 7,717 this year, student enrollment numbers have remained relatively stable, ranging between 65,000 and 71,000 annually over this period. This indicates consistent implementation of the policy despite the reduction in participating institutions.

Key Points

  • The final phase of admissions, including random allotment for oversubscribed seats, was conducted on 30- 31 October 2025.
  • NOTICE: Tamil Nadu RTE 25% Admissions 2025-26.
