Bihar NEET PG Bond Policy: Rs 25 Lakh PenaltyNewsIMTS

Rs 25 lakh penalty awaits medical students who fail to complete mandatory service after Bihar NEET PG admissions. The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board started round 1 registrations for MD and MS admissions on 31 October 2025. Students leaving courses after admission must return Rs 15 lakh plus all stipend received. The policy requires 3-year mandatory service under the state government. Those unable to complete this service must pay Rs 25 lakh and return all stipends. Medical college principals will collect bonds at admission time and hold students' MBBS certificates until service completion or payment. Registration requires Rs 2,200 non-refundable fee plus a security deposit. Bihar offers 352 seats in government colleges (including 17 disability quota seats) and 463 in private institutions, totaling 906 PG medical seats. Applications can be submitted on bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. (Updated 31 Oct 2025, 18:54 IST; source: link)

Bihar's New Bond Policy for NEET PG Students

The Bihar government has introduced a strict bond policy for postgraduate medical students. Under this policy, students who gain admission to MD or MS courses through NEET PG must sign a bond committing to three years of mandatory service with the state government after completing their degree. The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board began registrations for the first round of admissions on October 31, 2025. Students must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 2,200 plus a security deposit. The state offers a total of 906 PG medical seats, with 352 in government colleges and 463 in private institutions.

Heavy Penalties for Breaking Service Commitment

Students who fail to complete the mandatory three-year government service after their PG medical education face severe financial penalties. Those who abandon their course after securing admission must return Rs 15 lakh plus all stipends received during their study period. Students who complete the course but don't fulfill the service requirement must pay Rs 25 lakh and return all stipends. Medical college principals will collect these bonds during admission and will hold students' MBBS certificates as security until either the service obligation is completed or the penalty amount is paid. This policy aims to ensure that trained doctors serve in Bihar's healthcare system.
