Daily Food Poisoning Affects 50 Students in Guntur College

Since October 29, approximately 50 students have been falling ill each day with food poisoning symptoms at a private college in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Some affected students required hospital admission while others received treatment on campus. Following the outbreak, District Collector A Thameem Ansariya formed an investigation committee to submit a detailed report on the incident. Investigation Underway as Students Report Previous Issues

Food safety officials have collected samples of food and water from the college for testing, with results expected by November 6-7. The college sources its water from both CRDA and private tankers. During inspections, students reportedly informed officials that similar food quality issues had occurred previously, which had led to protests. As a precautionary measure, the college administration has stopped purchasing chicken and eggs from its regular vendor to prevent further cases. The investigation committee will examine all aspects of food preparation and storage at the institution.
