The Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 reaches its final exam day on 31 May 2026, but not without controversy. The National Testing Agency (NTA) acknowledged that a technical glitch by its partner Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) disrupted examination centres across India on May 30, delaying the morning shift by approximately two hours at several locations. As a result, 3,765 students who were present at affected centres but could not appear will get a fresh re-test opportunity.

What Happened on May 30

In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), NTA confirmed that TCS reported a server issue that caused delays at certain centres across states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi. Students at Noida’s Adarsh Pariksha Kendra reported exam cancellation, flooding social media with complaints. NTA revised the afternoon shift timing to compensate and confirmed the issue was resolved without compromising exam integrity.

Opposition leaders, including AAP’s Atishi, shared visuals from exam centres and targeted the central government over the growing pattern of disruptions across major examinations including NEET UG, CBSE, and SSC in 2026. NTA reiterated that all students who were biometrically registered but could not appear will be given a confirmed re-test date.

What Comes Next After May 31

  • Exams on June 6 and June 7: Remaining rescheduled sessions to be held
  • Admit cards for June 6 and 7: Expected to be released very soon at cuet.nta.nic.in
  • Provisional answer key: Expected in the second week of June 2026
  • Challenge window: Rs 200 per objection per question
  • CUET UG 2026 result: Expected first week of July 2026

The CUET UG 2026 cycle, which began on May 11, 2026, has covered over 15 lakh registered candidates at 321 centres in India and abroad. The exam is held in 13 languages across 23 domain subjects plus the General Test. The May 28 session had already been postponed due to the change in the Bakrid holiday date, adding pressure to the already stretched schedule.

Students who appeared for today’s exam should monitor cuet.nta.nic.in closely and begin shortlisting universities based on expected scores while they wait for the official answer key.
