NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened a final correction window from June 25 to June 30, 2026, allowing NEET UG 2026 candidates to confirm, update or submit bank details for fee refunds. Candidates can also change a previous “No Refund” selection. NTA has introduced OTP-based authentication and warned that no correction requests will be accepted after the deadline.

This development comes as a significant relief for lakhs of medical aspirants who appeared for the re-conducted NEET UG 2026 examination held on June 21, 2026. Every eligible candidate must act before the portal closes to ensure their NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund is processed without delay or failure.

Why Was the NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled?

The NTA had initially opened the NEET UG 2026 fee refund window on May 22, with the deadline set for May 27. It later extended the deadline to June 22 and has now reopened the refund window till June 30. The NTA announced a refund of the NEET UG 2026 application fee after the May 3 exam was cancelled following the alleged paper leak. The re-examination was conducted on June 21.

A significant number of candidates — especially from rural areas — completed their application through Cyber Cafés, Common Service Centres (CSCs), or coaching institutes. In these cases, the registration fee was paid from the cyber café owner’s or CSC operator’s bank account, not the student’s own account. To address this problem and ensure the refund reaches the actual candidate, NTA created a separate bank details update module.

Category-Wise NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund Amount

After the cancellation of the NEET 2026 exam, candidates belonging to the General category will receive a refund of Rs 1,700, while OBC and EWS candidates will get Rs 1,600 refunded. SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates will receive Rs 1,000, whereas NRI candidates will get a refund of Rs 9,500.

Candidates are also advised that no additional fee will be charged for candidates appearing in the re-exam. A full refund of the examination fee paid by all eligible candidates will be processed through a dedicated online module on neet.nta.nic.in.

Why Did NTA Reopen the Refund Window?

According to the NTA, candidates were earlier asked to submit their bank account details through a dedicated portal so refunds could be transferred directly to their accounts. However, the agency received several representations regarding incorrect bank account numbers and IFSC codes. To address these concerns, a correction facility was provided during the admit card download process.

While around 19 lakh candidates have already confirmed or updated their banking information, a small number are yet to do so. The NTA also received requests from candidates who had previously selected the “No Refund” option but now wish to claim the refund. To ensure no eligible candidate misses out, the NTA has decided to provide one last window for candidates to review and update their details.

How to Update Bank Details for NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund — Step-by-Step

Candidates can follow these steps to submit or update their bank details before the June 30 deadline:

Step 1: Visit the official NEET website at neet.nta.nic.in

Step 2: Click on the “Bank Account Details Confirmation / Updation” link

Step 3: Log in using the application number and password

Step 4: Complete OTP-based authentication on the registered mobile number

Step 5: Review the displayed bank account information

Step 6: Choose one of the following options — Confirm existing details by ticking the checkbox and clicking “Confirm Bank Details”; Update details by entering the correct beneficiary name, bank account number, bank name and IFSC code; or select “No Refund” if the refund is not required

Step 7: Upload a scanned copy of a cancelled cheque or the first page of the bank passbook, if available

Step 8: Submit the form

Candidates need to have their application number, password, and valid bank account details ready before accessing the portal. Download the confirmation page for future reference.

Important Instructions and Warnings

The account may belong to the candidate, parent, family member or be a joint account with the candidate. Do not share passwords, OTPs or login credentials with anyone. The NTA will not be responsible for refunds credited to incorrect accounts due to wrong information entered by candidates. No requests for changes will be accepted after June 30, 2026.

NTA will never ask for any OTP, password, or sensitive financial information via phone call, SMS, or email. Beware of fraudsters posing as NTA officials. Students should not share bank details on unofficial websites, social media links, or third-party pages claiming to offer the NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund.

For assistance, candidates can contact the NTA Help Desk at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or email neetug2026@nta.ac.in. The agency has advised students to regularly check the official NEET website for further updates on refunds and result announcements.

What is the deadline, and What Comes Next?

The NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund portal will remain active until June 30, 2026, at 11:55 PM. The process is entirely online, and no offline application is accepted. The official NTA refund portal NEET 2026 link is available only on the official NTA website. Students should not trust fake websites and unofficial portals claiming to process refunds.

Meanwhile, the NTA released the NEET UG 2026 provisional answer key on Thursday, June 25. Candidates can challenge the answer key till June 28 by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs 200 per question. The NEET UG 2026 result is expected in late July 2026, followed by counselling for MBBS, BDS, and allied health science seats across India.

The reopening of the NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund correction window is a crucial last opportunity for every eligible candidate to ensure their examination fee is returned to the correct bank account. With the deadline firmly set at June 30, 2026, there is no time for delay. Log in immediately at neet.nta.nic.in, verify or update your bank details, complete OTP authentication, and download your confirmation page. Do not let a simple banking error stand between you and your rightful refund.
