AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched 41 six-month QIP-PG Certificate Programmes in AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, IoT, and Data Science for faculty members of AICTE-approved institutions. The AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026 is open for applications for the July–December 2026 academic session, and eligible candidates must submit their applications by July 5, 2026.
The 6-month hybrid programmes are designed to equip teachers from different disciplines with knowledge and skills in technologies, enabling them to deliver high-quality and industry-relevant education to students. The AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026 carries 18 academic credits and will be conducted through institutions of national importance — the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs).

What Is the AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme?
The AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme in Emerging Areas was introduced under the existing Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) scheme for the academic development of faculty members belonging to Core Engineering disciplines. AICTE introduced this programme as many institutions expressed interest in starting Diploma, UG, and PG level courses in emerging areas, but faced an acute shortage of faculty members possessing adequate expertise in such areas.
The Government of India launched the Quality Improvement Programme in the year 1970, with one of its main objectives being to upgrade the expertise and capabilities of faculty members of degree-level institutions across the country. The AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026 represents the latest and most ambitious expansion of this long-standing national initiative.
Courses Offered Under AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026
The programme will provide certification in several emerging fields across both computational and management domains, including: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Data Science and Data Analytics, Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR), Cyber Physical Systems, Internet of Things (IoT) and Drone Technology, Intelligent Transport Systems, Robotics, and 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing.
AICTE Chairman Yogesh Singh said: “The ‘AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme in Emerging Areas’ reflects AICTE’s commitment to strengthening technical education by continuously upgrading the capabilities of faculty members. Technologies such as AI, Machine Learning and Quantum Computing are transforming industries, and many more emerging technologies will shape the future.”
AICTE Member Secretary Shyama Rath added: “The QIP PG Certificate Programme will provide faculty members with an excellent opportunity to acquire new skills and learn from distinguished academicians and peers across institutions. Such collaborative learning and exposure to emerging technologies will ultimately benefit students and contribute to national development.”
Programme Structure, Duration and Delivery Mode
The duration of the AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026 is 6 months, with a batch of 50 candidates at one identified host institution per session. The programme will be offered through Hybrid mode. Out of the total six months, a minimum of four weeks shall be conducted in offline mode at the respective host institution.
Specifically, the first two and last two weeks will be in-person at the host institute, while the remaining twenty weeks will run in online mode. The typical average number of hours per week for the programme is around six credit hours (six theory/hands-on or twelve lab hours or a combination thereof).
Programme content is divided into three stages, with courses of 18 credits as per the curriculum of the host institutions, with an equal blend of theory and practical/projects. A maximum of six credits may be taken through NPTEL Courses by candidates during the QIP-PG Certification course duration.
Eligibility Criteria for AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026
Admission guidelines for the AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026 specify that only full-time regular or permanent faculty members of AICTE-approved Degree Level or Diploma level institutes are eligible to apply. These faculty members must belong to core engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Civil, Material/Metallurgical, Electrical and Electronics, Chemical, and related fields. Candidates must also have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the graduate/diploma level at an AICTE-approved institution. In addition to these minimum eligibility conditions, the criteria of the respective host institution shall also be applicable.
The AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026 certification course will commence by the concerned host institution only if a minimum of 30 candidates are admitted into a particular course.
Certification and Outcome
On successful completion of the AICTE QIP PG Certificate Programme 2026, the host institution shall issue the evaluation report and the QIP-PG Certificate, which shall carry the logo of both AICTE and the respective host institution.
The programme is specifically designed keeping in mind the need for flexibility both in terms of modularity and scheduling of sessions.
