The JoSAA 2026 Round 3 Seat Allotment result is set to be published today, July 6, at 5:00 PM, giving lakhs of JEE Main and JEE Advanced candidates their next seat update across 138 participating institutes — 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 56 other government-funded technical institutes. This year’s counselling covers a total of 64,219 engineering seats, including 3,104 supernumerary seats reserved specifically for female candidates.
How to Check Your Round 3 Allotment Today
Once live this evening, candidates can download the JoSAA 2026 Round 3 Seat Allotment result by following these steps:

- Visit the official website, josaa.nic.in, and click on “View Seat Allotment Result”
- Enter your JEE Main/Advanced application number, password, and security PIN
- Log in to view your allotted institute, branch, and category status
- Download and save the allotment letter for reference
Candidates allotted a seat this round must complete admission fee payment by July 8, the deadline set for this stage of counselling.
Expected Cutoff Movement This Round
Historical patterns suggest JEE Advanced opening-closing ranks shift only modestly by Round 3, since most high-rank candidates have already secured seats in the first two rounds. Based on past-year trends:
- Top IITs (Bombay, Delhi) in core branches like CSE: minimal movement, typically just 5 to 20 ranks
- Newer IITs (Dharwad, Jammu, Palakkad): larger shifts possible, in the range of 100-300 ranks
- NITs and mid-tier IIITs, especially in home-state quota seats: drops of 500-1,000 ranks are possible in branches like Mechanical, Civil, and Metallurgy
This follows Round 2, which was declared on June 30, after Round 1 results came out on June 13.
Freeze, Slide, or Withdraw: Choices for Candidates Today
Once allotted, candidates must choose between “Freeze” (accept the seat and exit further rounds), “Slide” (stay open for a better branch at the same institute), or withdrawal. Importantly, candidates allotted an IIT seat can only withdraw until Round 4, closing on July 12 at 5 PM — no withdrawal is permitted once Round 5, the final round, begins. Those unsatisfied with their NIT+ system seat can still explore the CSAB Special Rounds afterward, though this requires a fresh registration and choice-filling process, since JoSAA preferences don’t carry forward automatically. Candidates are advised to complete document verification and fee payment well within deadlines to avoid losing their allotted seat.
