Candidates who missed out on a seat in the regular counselling rounds have another chance, as the NIFT Spot Counselling Round for 2026 is set to begin shortly. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts this round after the completion of the regular seat allocation process to fill seats left vacant due to withdrawals or non-payment of fees.
NIFT Spot Counselling Round 2026: Key Dates
According to the official schedule, the NIFT Spot Counselling Round registration will open on 19 July 2026. Following registration and choice filling, the seat allotment result for the Spot Round is scheduled for 24 July 2026. Candidates who are allotted a seat in this round must complete physical reporting at their allotted campus by 29 July 2026, carrying all original documents to confirm their admission.

Who Can Participate in the NIFT Spot Counselling Round
The NIFT Spot Counselling Round is open to a wide pool of candidates, including:
- Candidates who did not participate in any of the earlier counselling rounds.
- Candidates who were absent during previous rounds of counselling.
- Candidates who withdrew or declined their allotted seat in an earlier round.
However, candidates who became ineligible during document verification — due to invalid documents, age criteria issues, or cutoff-related disqualification — will not be permitted to participate in the Spot Round.
How to Register for the NIFT Spot Counselling Round
Candidates planning to apply can follow these steps once registration opens:
- Visit the official NIFT counselling portal.
- Register using your NIFT 2026 Common Merit Rank (CMR) credentials.
- Pay the registration fee, which is approximately ₹5,000 for new candidates participating for the first time.
- Fill in your campus and programme preferences for available vacant seats.
- Lock your choices before the deadline and wait for the seat allotment result.
What Happens After Seat Allotment
Once the NIFT Spot Counselling Round allotment result is declared on 24 July, allotted candidates must complete document verification and fee payment as per the schedule to confirm their seat. Category upgradation and conversion of seats will also be processed during this round, as per NIFT’s admission guidelines. Candidates are advised to keep all original documents ready in advance, since reporting to the allotted campus by 29 July is mandatory to retain the seat.
