Aspirants waiting for NEET MDS Counselling to begin have a little longer to wait, as the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is yet to release the official 2026 schedule for All India Quota (AIQ) admissions. As of 29 July 2026, the MCC’s dedicated MDS counselling page had not been updated to reflect the new session, signalling that registration has not formally begun despite various unofficial estimates circulating on third-party education platforms.
The NEET MDS 2026 exam was conducted on 02 May 2026, and MCC declared the result on 02 June 2026, with scorecards released on 10 June 2026. A total of 18,244 candidates qualified for the exam this year, competing for 50% All India Quota dental seats, central university seats, and deemed university seats across the country. Following the usual pattern seen in previous years, the counselling schedule is expected to be notified shortly, after which candidates will be able to register, pay fees, and lock their college and course preferences on the official portal.

Registration Process Yet to Open
Once MCC activates the portal, eligible candidates will need their NEET MDS roll number, application number, and date of birth to generate login credentials. Candidates should rely only on the official mcc.nic.in website for authentic updates, since several third-party platforms have published unconfirmed registration dates that do not match the current status of the official page.
Choice Filling and Locking
After NEET MDS Counselling registration, candidates will be required to fill and lock their preferred colleges and specialities in order of priority. Choices not locked within the given window will not be considered for seat allotment, and once locked, they cannot be edited. MCC typically does not cap the number of choices a candidate may select, though aspirants are advised to prioritise their list carefully, as allotment depends heavily on rank and the sequence in which choices are arranged.
NEET MDS Counselling Seat Allotment and Reporting
Seat allotment will be based on NEET MDS 2026 rank, category, and the choices locked by candidates. Those allotted a seat must report to the concerned institute within the notified timeline with all required documents, including the NEET MDS scorecard, admit card, qualifying degree certificate, and internship completion proof, to confirm admission. Candidates failing to report within the given period risk forfeiture of the allotted seat as well as their security deposit.
Until MCC issues an official notification, candidates are advised to keep their documents ready and regularly check mcc. nic. in rather than depending on tentative dates published elsewhere.
