The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar has inaugurated the sixth batch of its Executive MBA programme (EMBA-06), welcoming a new cohort of working professionals through a hybrid ceremony held on 28 July 2026. The event marked the start of a two-year academic journey aimed at strengthening leadership, analytical, and strategic decision-making skills among experienced professionals.

The incoming EMBA-06 batch reflects a wide mix of professional and academic backgrounds, designed to enrich peer-to-peer learning throughout the course. Key highlights include:

Chief Guest Address
Lt. Gen. Ajay Chandpuria, AVSM, VSM, Commandant of the Army War College, served as the Chief Guest at the ceremony. In his keynote address, he congratulated participants on reaching a significant milestone in their professional journey and highlighted the distinct value of the Executive MBA programme at IIM Amritsar. He emphasised that participants would benefit from an empowering academic environment shaped by experienced faculty and meaningful peer interaction across varied operational and managerial backgrounds.
Programme Structure and Faculty Remarks
Several senior faculty members addressed the incoming cohort during the ceremony:
- Prof. Vartika Dutta, Chairperson of the programme, welcomed participants and acknowledged that pursuing an EMBA is often a carefully weighed decision for working professionals balancing career and family commitments. She encouraged them to remain open to new ideas.
- Prof. Sujit Raghunathrao Jagadale, Dean – Academics & Programmes, focused his remarks on purpose-driven learning across the two-year course.

- Prof. Samir Kumar Srivastava, Director of IIM Amritsar, formally welcomed the batch, underlining the institute’s focus on academic excellence, innovation, and industry engagement.
The Executive MBA programme itself combines several delivery formats, including case-based pedagogy, industry exposure, experiential learning, campus immersion modules, and an optional international immersion component.
