Chandigarh University has secured the 526th rank globally in the QS Rankings 2027, placing it among the top 2% of universities worldwide and the top 1% in India. The university’s global position improved from 575th in the 2026 edition, marking its fifth consecutive year of improvement in the QS World University Rankings.
Within India, Chandigarh University moved up to an All India Rank of 13, compared to 16th in the 2026 rankings, reflecting steady gains across multiple evaluation parameters used by QS.

Strongest Gains in International Research Network
The university’s sharpest improvement came in the International Research Network indicator, where its global rank jumped from 603 in 2026 to 363 in 2027, a leap of 240 places. This places Chandigarh University among the top 1% of universities globally on this parameter and among India’s top 5 universities for international research collaborations, reflecting the strength of its global academic partnerships.
Performance Across Other Key Parameters
Chandigarh University also recorded gains in Employer Reputation, securing the 147th rank globally and the 2nd position among India’s private universities on this metric. In Academic Reputation, the university now ranks among India’s top 10 universities. It also secured the 3rd position among Indian private universities for International Faculty and the 4th position for International Student Ratio, indicating a broader improvement across the university’s internationalisation efforts rather than gains concentrated in a single area.
QS Rankings Research Output Behind the Rise
The university’s climb has been backed by growing research output. In the 2024–25 academic year alone, Chandigarh University students and faculty filed 743 patents, with 770 publications recorded and 49 patents granted. The university now counts more than 560 international research network scholars, contributing to its improved standing on QS Rankings global collaboration metrics. Chandigarh University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Raviraja N Seetharam, noted that the improvement spans key indicators including academic reputation, international research network, and employer reputation.
