The Azim Premji Foundation has opened applications for the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026-27, with Round 1 registrations running from 10 August to 31 August 2026. This year’s cycle comes with a revised eligibility list, as Andhra Pradesh and Delhi (NCT) have been added as new eligible regions, expanding the scholarship’s reach to 21 states and Union Territories. The scholarship supports girl students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their first undergraduate degree or diploma course.
Revised Eligibility Criteria for the 2026 Cohort
Under the revised eligibility criteria for the 2026-27 cohort, applicants must be girl students who have passed both Class 10 and Class 12 as regular students from a government school or college in one of the eligible states or UTs. The full list now includes Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi (NCT), Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Applicants must also have secured first-year admission for the 2026-27 academic session in a recognised undergraduate degree or diploma course (2 to 5 years) at any government or credible private college or university in India. There is no age limit and the scholarship is not merit-based, though candidates already admitted to Azim Premji University or holding a Wipro scholarship, such as the Santoor scholarship, are not eligible.
Award Amount and Disbursal
Selected students under the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026 receive Rs 30,000 annually, paid for the full duration of their first undergraduate or diploma programme, amounting to up to Rs 1.5 lakh over a five-year course. The amount is transferred directly to the recipient’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. The Foundation has confirmed there is no application fee at any stage and has cautioned applicants against fraudulent messages claiming otherwise.
