The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is conducting PGIMER BSc Nursing Counselling today, 18 August 2026, for admission to the 4-year BSc Nursing programme. Shortlisted candidates who cleared the entrance examination are required to be physically present at the institute for document verification and seat allotment.
PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026 Counselling: Schedule Details
The counselling process for the 4-year BSc Nursing course follows a two-day format. Document verification took place on 17 August 2026, while seat allotment counselling is being held today, 18 August 2026. This comes after PGIMER conducted the entrance examination on 24 July 2026 and declared the result on 10 August 2026.
The institute had earlier held a separate counselling round on 13 and 14 August 2026 for the BSc Nursing (Post Basic) course, which is a distinct 2-year programme open to both male and female candidates. Candidates should note that both counselling rounds were conducted in offline mode at the institute campus, and no online option was made available for document submission or seat confirmation this year.
Documents Required for Counselling
Candidates attending the PGIMER BSc Nursing Counselling must carry original documents along with one set of photocopies. The commonly required documents include:
- Copy of the PGIMER application form
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets
- GNM registration certificate (for Post Basic candidates)
- Reservation or category certificate, if applicable
- Entrance exam admit card and scorecard
Documents must be submitted at the office of the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER, Chandigarh, and verification is completed on the same day as counselling.
Seat Details and Eligibility
The 4-year BSc Nursing programme has a total of 93 seats, and admission is open only to female candidates, as per PGIMER’s eligibility norms. Seats are allotted strictly based on merit in the entrance examination. Candidates whose names appear in the merit list have been called for counselling in a ratio of up to three times the number of available seats in each category, to allow for no-shows and category adjustments. Selected candidates are required to pay the prescribed course fee on the spot through online mode, Demand Draft, or Banker’s Cheque; failure to do so may result in cancellation of the allotted seat.
What Happens After Counselling
Once PGIMER BSc Nursing Counselling concludes, PGIMER is expected to release a waiting list for candidates who could not be accommodated in the first round. A second round of counselling may follow to fill any vacant seats, based on merit. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website, pgimer.edu.in, for updates on waiting list releases, subsequent counselling rounds, and admission confirmation deadlines, since PGIMER admission notices are the only authoritative source for further dates.
