The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the UGC NET 2026 provisional answer key for the June session and announced a re-examination for three subjects. Candidates can check the developments below, along with details on the expected result, cutoff, and exam pattern.
Provisional Answer Key: Details
NTA has released the provisional answer keys for 84 subjects of the UGC NET 2026 June 2026 examination. Candidates can download the answer key, question papers, and their recorded responses by logging in at ugcnet.nta.nic.in using their application number and password or date of birth. The objection window is open till 18 August 2026, and candidates can challenge any answer by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200 per question, along with supporting documentary evidence. Objections submitted through any mode other than the official portal will not be considered.
June Re-Exam: Dates and Reason
NTA has announced that the examination will be re-conducted for English, Commerce, and Sociology after receiving multiple complaints regarding errors in these three question papers. A committee was formed to examine the complaints, based on which the re-exam was ordered. As per the notice, the English paper will be held on 9 September 2026 from 9 AM to 12 PM, the Commerce paper on 9 September 2026 from 3 PM to 6 PM, and the Sociology paper on 10 September 2026 from 9 AM to 12 PM. NTA has clarified that results for the remaining 84 subjects will be declared as per the original schedule, and JRF allocation and Assistant Professor eligibility certificates for those subjects will not be delayed due to the re-conduct.
UGC NET 2026 Result and Cut Off: Expected Timeline
The result has not been declared yet. Once the objection window closes, NTA will review the challenges through subject experts and prepare the final answer key, based on which the result will be announced for the 84 subjects. Results for English, Commerce, and Sociology will follow separately after the September re-exam. The number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility will be equal to 6% of those who appeared in the June exam or the re-exam, whichever is higher. The category-wise cut-off marks will be released alongside the final result.
