The Maharashtra State CET Cell has released the revised MH CET Law 2026 Centralised Admission Process (CAP) schedule for both 3-year and 5-year LLB courses. The 5-year LLB Round 1 seat allotment is being released today, 18 August 2026, at 5:00 PM, while the 3-year LLB allotment follows tomorrow.
Counselling: Revised Dates
The CAP schedule was revised after several participating law colleges faced delays in securing approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI). The Round 1 option-form filling deadline was extended to 11 August 2026 for both 3-year and 5-year LLB candidates. As per the updated schedule, the 5-year LLB Round 1 seat allotment will be announced today, 18 August 2026, and the 3-year MH CET Law 2026 Round 1 seat allotment will follow on 19 August 2026, both at 5:00 PM. The CET Cell has also allowed unregistered CET-qualified candidates to register for Round 3 and the institutional-level round until 5 September 2026.
MH CET Law 2026 Seat Allotment: What to Do Next
Candidates allotted a seat must complete the reporting process at their assigned college within the notified window to confirm admission. Those unsatisfied with their allotment can choose to wait for the subsequent CAP round or withdraw by paying the prescribed withdrawal fee. The CAP process runs in three main rounds for both LLB programmes, with an institute-level round to follow if seats remain vacant. Candidates should regularly check the official portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, for round-wise cut-off marks, which are released after every allotment round.
Top Colleges to Watch
MH CET Law 2026 scores are accepted by more than 140 law colleges across Maharashtra. Some of the most sought-after institutions for both 3-year and 5-year LLB admission include:
- Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai
- ILS Law College, Pune
- Symbiosis Law School, Pune
- Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai
- Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai
Admission to these premier colleges is highly competitive, with opening percentiles typically ranging between 98 and 100 for the general category.
Admission Process Overview
The CAP counselling is conducted entirely online. Candidates must first fill in their college and course preferences during the option-entry window, following which seats are allotted based on merit rank, category, and availability. Once a seat is allotted, candidates need to pay the admission fee to confirm their place.
Candidates who do not confirm their allotted seat within the notified reporting window risk forfeiting it to the next round. In total, the exam caters to around 16,420 seats for the 3-year LLB course and around 10,860 seats for the 5-year LLB course across participating institutions in the state. Aspirants are advised to keep all original documents, including mark sheets, category certificates, and the CET scorecard, ready for verification at every stage of the process.
