The Indian Air Force is recruiting officers through AFCAT 02/2026, with the application window currently open at afcat.edcil.co.in. The deadline to apply is June 19, 2026, and registrations opened on May 20. Approximately 379 vacancies are available across the Flying Branch, Ground Duty Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Non-Technical Branch for both men and women candidates.
Eligibility
- Flying Branch: Age 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2027; Graduation with minimum 60 percent marks; PCM at Class 12 level required
- Ground Duty Technical: Engineering or Technology degree; minimum 60 percent
- Ground Duty Non-Technical: Any graduation with minimum 60 percent marks
- Final-year students: Eligible if no active backlog; must submit degree proof by May 30, 2027

- AFCAT Entry: Rs 550 plus 18 percent GST (non-refundable)
- NCC Special Entry / GATE Score Entry: No fee
Salary After Selection

In addition to basic pay, IAF officers receive flying allowance (Flying Branch), kit maintenance allowance, government accommodation, medical benefits, and pension.
The Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) has been discontinued from 2025 onwards, simplifying the selection process for Ground Duty Technical branch applicants. After the written AFCAT exam, shortlisted candidates appear for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview across multiple days, covering psychological tests, group tasks, and a personal interview to assess leadership and aptitude.
