In a significant boost to the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has opened applications for the 2026-27 academic session. The scheme, aimed at enhancing the qualifications and competencies of faculty members, offers full-time Master’s and PhD programmes across premier institutes in India.
Prof. Yogesh Singh, Chairman of AICTE, announced the launch of the dedicated QIP portal for the application process. “The QIP initiative is designed to equip our faculty with advanced knowledge and research skills. We encourage all eligible candidates to make the most of this opportunity,” he stated.
AICTE QIP 2026-27 Eligibility and Experience Requirements
The QIP 2026-27 is exclusively open to regular or permanent faculty members currently employed in AICTE-approved degree and diploma institutions. For the Master’s programmes, applicants must possess a relevant Bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the polytechnic level. PhD aspirants should hold a relevant Master’s degree and have at least three years of teaching experience.
Financial Support and Benefits
Selected candidates will receive substantial financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Master’s students will be awarded INR 9,000 per month, while PhD scholars will receive INR 15,000 per month. An additional annual contingency grant will be provided to support research and academic activities.
“The financial support is designed to allow faculty members to focus on their studies and research without undue financial constraints,” explained Dr. Ravi Kumar, Member Secretary of the QIP Committee.
Application Process and Timeline
The application process for QIP 2026-27 is completely online, and the portal will remain open until 30 April 2026. Applicants must register using their AICTE Faculty ID and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their parent institution. They can select up to three programme options based on their eligibility and preferences.
The screening process will be conducted in multiple stages by the Nodal QIP Centre at IIT Kharagpur and other designated institutes. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews or tests at their chosen centres.
Required Documents and Certificates
To complete the online application, candidates must upload a set of mandatory documents. These include a photograph, signature, Aadhaar Card, experience certificate, and mark sheets from Class 10 to post-graduation. Applicants should also provide their GATE, NET, or JRF certificates, if applicable, along with the relevant category certificate for reservation benefits.
Prof. Singh urged all prospective candidates to submit their applications well in advance to avoid last-minute challenges. “We have a robust system in place to handle the application process smoothly. However, we advise applicants to complete their registration before the deadline to allow sufficient time for document verification and rectification, if needed,” he said.
The QIP 2026-27 is expected to attract a large number of faculty members seeking to upgrade their qualifications and skills. AICTE aims to facilitate the smooth implementation of the scheme and provide the necessary support to the selected scholars throughout their academic journey.
