February 13th, 2024, Guwahati, Assam: The Assam state government has announced the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina scheme involving Rs 240 crore financial allocation aimed towards promoting girl education and women empowerment in the 2024-2025 Budget Session.
Under the initiative led by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog:
- A Rs 10,000 incentive grant will be provided to girls joining Class 9
- Rs 12,500 grant for females enrolling in undergraduate programs
- Rs 15,000 assistance for those opting for postgraduation studies
- Besides over 10 lakh female students benefitting, the Budget also involves:
- Rs 1250 crores for constructing a new model Anganwadis
Rs 2370 crores for upgrading school infrastructure
100 more schools are also to be established in tea garden-dominated regions amounting to further public education strengthening.
The vision document equally highlighted the recruitment of nearly 95,000 youth already with a maximum of 22,000 inducted into the Education Department itself.
Overall through monetary support at key educational transition points aimed at counteracting early dropouts and lower enrolments, the state Budget strives to boost female literacy and participation rates in the higher studies domain enabling economic and societal contributions.
Officials further highlighted publishing nearly 36,000 fresh government vacancies towards enhancing employment avenues for qualified youth given satisfactory hiring done earlier.
