Delhi Govt To Grant Recognition To Private SchoolsNewsIMTS

NOTICE: RECOGNITION FOR PRIVATE UNAIDED SCHOOLS IN NON-CONFORMING AREAS. Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood announced that private unaided schools operating in non-conforming areas can apply for recognition from 1-30 November 2025. The online application portal will open on the Directorate of Education website. Schools meeting prescribed criteria will receive recognition after scrutiny. This decision will benefit nearly 500 schools and create about 20,000 additional seats for students, including those from EWS/DG/CWSN categories. Recognition ensures legitimacy of certificates, safety compliance, and eligibility for government admissions. Parents are advised to enroll children only in DoE-recognised schools. The Minister stated this reform addresses a decade-old issue and ensures compliance with Article 21-A of the Constitution and the RTE Act, this year. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has prioritized this initiative to provide equitable access to quality education for all Delhi children. (Updated 1 Nov 2025, 12:12 IST; source: link)

Delhi to Recognize Private Schools in Non-Conforming Areas

The Delhi government has announced a new policy allowing private unaided schools in non-conforming areas to apply for official recognition. Education Minister Ashish Sood stated that these schools can submit applications online through the Directorate of Education website from November 1-30, 2025. Schools meeting the required criteria will receive recognition after thorough verification. This initiative aims to address a long-standing issue that has affected hundreds of schools operating without formal status in certain Delhi areas. This note explains what it means for students, when the process starts, how to check updates, and what to do next in simple steps.

Recognition to Benefit Students and Ensure Educational Rights

This policy change is expected to benefit nearly 500 schools and create approximately 20,000 additional seats for students, including those from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups. Official recognition ensures that student certificates will be legitimate, safety standards will be maintained, and schools will be eligible for government admission processes. The reform supports Article 21-A of the Constitution and the Right to Education Act, 2009, which guarantee the right to education. Parents are being advised to enroll their children only in schools recognized by the Directorate of Education.
