New Delhi, 8 April 2024: The Delhi High Court will hear a petition today seeking the postponement of the ICAI CA exams 2024. Disappointed with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) rescheduling the CA Inter and Final exams to be held in May 2024, the aspirants have filed a plea in the high court.
Scheduling Clash with Lok Sabha Elections
The ICAI had rescheduled the CA exams from their initial dates in May due to a clash with the 2024 Lok Sabha general elections, which are scheduled from April 19 to June 1. The CA Inter exams are now scheduled from May 3 to May 17, and the CA Final exams from May 2 to May 16.
Reasons for Postponement Demand
The petitioners have cited various issues with the current exam schedule, including difficulties in transportation, disruption due to election rallies, and overall disturbance during the election period. They are demanding that the ICAI CA exams be rescheduled to June 2024, after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections.
ICAI’s Initial Announcement
The ICAI had indicated that it might postpone the CA exams to avoid a clash with the Lok Sabha elections. However, the institute has now gone ahead with the rescheduled dates in May, prompting the students to approach the Delhi High Court.
The high court’s decision on the petition is eagerly awaited by the ICAI CA aspirants, who are seeking a more favorable exam schedule that does not coincide with the national elections.
