MIT University Admission 2026: UG & PG Registration Open

MIT University Sikkim has opened the admission process for its undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes for the academic year 2026. Students aspiring to pursue quality higher education in a range of disciplines can now apply through the official university website.

Candidates who want to apply can do it through the official website of MIT University Sikkim at mituniversitysikkim.com.

MIT University Offered for 2026

MIT University Sikkim offers admission to the following programmes:

Undergraduate (UG) Programmes

  • BCA: Bachelor of Computer Applications
  • BBA: Bachelor of Business Administration
  • B.Sc: Agriculture, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Science
  • BA: English, Psychology, Sociology, Mass Communication & Journalism

Postgraduate (PG) Programmes

  • MBA: Master of Business Administration with specialisations in Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations
  • MCA: Master of Computer Applications
  • M.Sc: Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Science

Eligibility Criteria

For UG Programmes

Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognised board with the following minimum marks:

  • B.Tech / B.Sc / BCA: 50 per cent and above (45 per cent for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • BBA / BA: 50 per cent and above (45 per cent for reserved categories) in any stream

For PG Programmes

Candidates must hold a recognised undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline with:

  • M.Tech / MCA / M.Sc: 55 per cent and above (50 per cent for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
  • MBA: 50 per cent and above (45 per cent for reserved categories) in any discipline

Final-year students awaiting results are also eligible to apply provisionally. They must submit proof of qualification before the commencement of classes.

Admission Process

Admissions are granted based on:

  • Merit in qualifying examination
  • Entrance examination scores (JEE Main for B.Tech, CAT/MAT/CMAT for MBA, where applicable)
  • Personal interview conducted by the university (for select programmes)

Mode of Study

All programmes are offered in regular, full-time mode at the MIT University Sikkim campus in Gangtok. Courses are conducted with classroom teaching, practical sessions, workshops, and industry exposure modules.

Duration

  • UG Programmes: 3 to 4 years (B.Tech: 4 years, BBA/BCA/BA/B.Sc: 3 years)
  • PG Programmes: 2 years

Important Dates (Tentative)

The university has not yet released the complete admission schedule. However, the key dates are expected to be as follows:

  • Application Start Date: January 2026
  • Last Date to Apply: June 2026 (may be extended based on availability of seats)
  • Entrance Test / Interview: May to June 2026
  • Merit List Declaration: July 2026
  • Document Verification & Fee Submission: July to August 2026
  • Classes Commencement: August 2026

Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updated schedules and announcements.

Fee Structure

The fee structure varies based on the programme and category. Below is an estimated range:

Undergraduate Programmes

  • B.Tech: ₹80,000 to ₹1.2 lakh per annum
  • BCA / BBA / BA / B.Sc: ₹50,000 to ₹80,000 per annum

Postgraduate Programmes

  • M.Tech / MCA / M.Sc: ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh per annum
  • MBA: ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh per annum

Note: Fees are subject to revision. Students must refer to the official admission brochure for accurate and updated fee details.

Scholarships & Financial Assistance

MIT University Sikkim offers merit-based scholarships and financial aid to deserving students. Scholarships are awarded based on:

  • Academic performance in the qualifying examination
  • Entrance examination scores
  • Economic background (income-based concessions for EWS candidates)

Students may also apply for central and state government scholarship schemes such as:

  • National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
  • Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC students
  • Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme

Reservation Policy

As per the university’s admission policy and the Government of Sikkim norms, reservations are provided for:

  • SC: 4.35 per cent
  • ST: 7.5 per cent
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 27 per cent
  • EWS: 10 per cent (based on annual family income below ₹8 lakh)

Candidates from reserved categories must submit valid caste or income certificates at the time of document verification.

Documents Required

Applicants must upload the following documents during online registration:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets (for UG applicants)
  • Graduation degree and mark sheets (for PG applicants)
  • Entrance exam scorecard (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar card
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (for state quota benefits)
  • Transfer certificate and migration certificate (at the time of admission)

Candidates can complete the application process by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official website at mituniversitysikkim.com
  2. Navigate to the Admissions 2026 section
  3. Click on Apply Now for UG or PG programmes
  4. Fill in personal, academic, and contact details
  5. Upload all required documents in prescribed format
  6. Pay the application fee through online mode (credit/debit card, net banking, UPI)
  7. Submit the form and download a copy for future reference

Application Fee

  • UG Programmes: ₹5,000 (₹500 for SC/ST candidates)
  • PG Programmes: ₹5,200 (₹600 for SC/ST candidates)

Payment is non-refundable.
