Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to all Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors across India urging them to ensure fair and transparent conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, 2026. The Ministry of Education confirmed this development through its official social media handle, signalling the seriousness with which the Centre is approaching the re-test.
The original NEET UG 2026 exam held on May 3 was cancelled after a multi-state paper leak was confirmed by investigating agencies. The CBI has been probing the case, with arrests made in Rajasthan and Nashik connected to a WhatsApp-based syndicate that allegedly circulated leaked question papers. The government has stated it aims to make the June 21 re-exam 100 percent error-free.
Over 23 lakh medical aspirants will appear for the re-examination. The NTA has activated the exam city change window and will release city intimation slips and admit cards in the coming days. Pradhan also announced that from 2027 onwards, NEET UG will be conducted in online computer-based mode to prevent future paper leak incidents.
