New Delhi, March 22, 2024: The National Law University (NLU Delhi) has introduced a pioneering initiative, offering a joint master’s and LLM program in Intellectual Property Law and Management. Collaborating with esteemed entities such as the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) of the United Nations and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks (CGPDTM – Indian IP Office), as well as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, this program aims to redefine intellectual property education in India.
Program Details:
The program, initiated under the WIPO India Action Plan 2023, offers a comprehensive pathway to expertise in intellectual property law and management.
It features a dual-track system:
Legal professionals will pursue an LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management.
Non-legal background candidates will enroll in the Master in Intellectual Property Law and Management.
Launch Ceremony Highlights:
The launch ceremony included a panel discussion on ‘Reimagining IP Teaching in India’, emphasizing innovative pedagogical approaches.
NLU Delhi Vice-Chancellor GS Bajpai highlighted the program’s significance, stating it provides aspiring students with specialized training to build a career in intellectual property.
Delhi High Court Judge Prathiba M Singh, the chief guest, lauded the initiative as a watershed moment for IP education in India, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in this field.
