New Delhi, March 15, 2024: Six schools in Thiruvananthapuram have committed to establishing Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) on their premises. This initiative follows the announcement made by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, regarding the setup of 10 ATLs in Thiruvananthapuram. The minister has pledged that within the next five years, every panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram will have access to an Atal Tinkering Lab.
The schools selected to receive ATLs include Alan Feldman Public School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya Attukal, Victory VHSS Olathanni, St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, GHSS Balaramapuram, and Sree Chithira Thirunal Residential Central School. These labs will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to facilitate hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, four more schools are expected to receive ATLs shortly through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).
During an interactive session with students at NIMS Medicity, the minister emphasized the importance of fostering curiosity and innovation at the school level. He announced the establishment of ATLs in 10 schools within the city as an initial step towards achieving this goal. This initiative aims to prepare students in Thiruvananthapuram for the challenges of an ever-evolving future.
“The labs will serve as hubs for creativity, providing students with the resources and space needed to innovate and explore. The government’s commitment to this initiative underscores the significance of integrating practical and innovative learning methodologies into our educational system,” stated the minister.
The initiative extends an invitation to other schools to join this journey towards creating a brighter and more innovative future for students.
