Amaravati: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh has launched a new scheme called ‘Kalalaku Rekkalu’ (Wings to Dreams) aimed at empowering women by supporting their pursuit of professional courses. Here are the key points regarding the scheme:
1. Scheme Details:
- Under the scheme, the TDP, in alliance with the BJP and the Jana Sena, plans to pay the interest on loans taken by women for pursuing professional courses.
- The government will act as a guarantor for these loans.
- Women who have completed Class 12 are eligible to register for the scheme.
2. Online Registration:
- The scheme offers an online registration process through a dedicated website launched by TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
- Upon registration, a certificate is generated, which can be presented to banks to avail of loans.
3. Government Support:
- Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that this initiative is an investment in the state’s and women’s future.
- He highlighted the TDP’s commitment to women’s empowerment, citing past initiatives such as introducing 33% reservations for women in educational institutions and employment opportunities.
4. Other Promised Schemes:
- The TDP and its alliance partners have pledged 22 new schemes, including five under the Mahasakthi initiative focusing on women.
- Some of these schemes include financial assistance for school-going children, free gas cylinders, free RTC bus travel for women, and monthly financial support for women aged 18 to 59.

- Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that ‘Kalalaku Rekkalu’ is not limited to one sector but aims to support women in higher education, skill development, and capacity-building.
