New Delhi, 8th April 2024: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced that candidates who have opted for Imphal as their exam centre for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 preliminary can now change their centre. This facility will be available from today, April 8, until April 19, 2024.
UPSC CSE Alternate Exam Centers
According to the UPSC notice, such candidates can choose from 80 other centres across the country for the UPSC CSE 2024 prelims. The alternate centers include Aizawl (Mizoram), Kohima (Nagaland), Shillong (Meghalaya), Dispur and Jorhat (Assam), Kolkata (West Bengal), and Delhi.
Change Request Process
Candidates can submit their requests for centre change through the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in. Additionally, they can call the toll-free number or send an email to uscp-upsc@nic.in. The toll-free number is available from 10 AM to 5 PM on all working days.
UPSC CSE 2024 Admit Card and Examination Date
Upon receiving the centre change requests, the UPSC will allot the chosen centres to the candidates and send a confirmation message to their registered mobile numbers. The UPSC CSE 2024 admit cards for all candidates, including those who have changed their centres, will be issued around one week before the examination, which is scheduled for June 16, 2024.
Background
The decision to allow center change for Imphal candidates comes after the Delhi High Court order dated March 28, 2024, in a petition filed by the Zomi Students Federation. The commission had earlier informed the court that it would facilitate the travel of candidates from the hill districts of Manipur to the alternate exam centres.
