National Anthem in Morning Assemblies: A New Rule for Schools in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, June 14, 2024 – A new rule for all schools in Jammu and Kashmir came into force today. Now, during the morning assemblies, students perform the country’s national anthem. This decree was signed by the School Education Department. The goal is to increase the unity and discipline of students.

The head of the Department for the School Education of Jammu and Kashmir, a principal secretary, provided a circular in this regard on June 12, 2024. The document requires morning sessions of all schools within their territory to sing the song. In addition, it includes 16 measures to improve morning assemblies, for example, by inviting guests and analyzing important events.
