The Staff Selection Commission confirmed on May 27, 2026, that the SSC GD Constable examination was cancelled at several centres due to severe overcrowding and breaches in seating capacity. Affected examination shifts have been rescheduled from May 27 onwards with fresh admit cards being issued through the official portal at ssc.gov.in.
The disruption was reported at multiple venues where candidate attendance far exceeded permitted limits. At centres in Bhopal, for example, 819 candidates reportedly turned up against only 399 available seats, forcing immediate suspension of shifts. The exam date had already been moved from May 28 to May 27 following a government revision of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The SSC has directed all affected candidates to download revised admit cards from ssc.gov.in. The updated hall tickets contain new centre details, shift timings, and examination dates. Aadhaar e-KYC verification will be mandatory at all rescheduled centres. The Commission has warned candidates not to rely on unverified social media posts for exam updates and to check only official notifications. The SSC GD exam cycle began on April 27 and is scheduled to end by May 30, 2026, with 25,487 vacancies at stake.
