Delhi University has announced 1,370 supernumerary seats under the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota for undergraduate admissions in the 2026-27 academic session. The DU ECA quota seat matrix was released under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) 2026, even as registrations for the ongoing admission cycle continue on the university’s official portal. These seats span 14 categories, covering disciplines like theatre, dance, music, debate, photography, and painting, and are reserved specifically for students with verified achievements in these areas.
Category-Wise Breakdown of ECA Seats
According to the university’s seat matrix, Indian classical dance leads with 125 seats, followed closely by theatre at 123 seats and Indian vocal music at 109 seats. Other notable allocations in the DU ECA quota seat matrix include:

- Indian Folk Dance: 72 seats
- Hindi Debate: 71 seats
- English Debate: 69 seats
- Sketching and Painting: 65 seats
- Western Dance: 63 seats
- NCC (Girls): 56 seats
- Western Vocal Music: 54 seats
- NSS: 53 seats
Smaller, specialised categories such as Sarod (2 seats) and Western Flute (1 seat) round out the matrix, reflecting the widespread of extracurricular disciplines DU supports.
Sports Quota Admissions Also Underway
Alongside the ECA quota, Delhi University is separately conducting admissions under its Sports Quota, which functions on a similar supernumerary basis — meaning these seats are created over and above each college’s regular sanctioned intake. Selection under this quota also follows the same 25:75 weightage formula, where CUET (UG) 2026 scores contribute 25%, and sports certificates combined with trial performance make up the remaining 75%. Since the official, college-wise sports seat matrix for the 2026-27 session had not been verified as released at the time of writing, students are advised to check the DU admission portal directly for the confirmed sports quota numbers rather than relying on unofficial estimates.
How to Apply Under the ECA and Sports Quota
Candidates interested in the DU ECA quota seat matrix categories, or the parallel sports quota, must have appeared for CUET (UG) 2026 to be eligible. The application process involves:
- Registering on the CSAS-UG portal (ugadmission.uod.ac.in)
- Selecting the relevant ECA or Sports quota category during registration
- Uploading self-attested certificates as proof of achievement
- Paying an additional ₹100 fee per quota category applied for
- Appearing for the scheduled trials or certificate evaluation at DU-designated venues
Candidates can apply for up to three categories under either quota. Colleges including Kirori Mal College, Hindu College, Hansraj College, Miranda House, and Lady Shri Ram College for Women are among those offering seats across multiple ECA disciplines this year. For the latest updates on trial schedules and the sports quota matrix, students should continue monitoring the official DU admission portal.
