The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has released the provisional state merit list for NEET UG 2026 on 05 August 2026 at the official website. The list carries the names of candidates who appeared for NEET UG 2026 from Assam and are eligible to participate in the state counselling process for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in government medical and dental colleges of the state.
What the Merit List Contains
The Assam NEET Merit List is prepared strictly based on scores obtained in the NEET UG 2026 examination and is used for admission under the 85% state quota seats, while the remaining 15% falls under the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling conducted separately by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The PDF includes the following details for each candidate:
- State rank
- Roll number and candidate name
- Gender and category
- Total marks obtained and percentile
- NEET UG rank and applicant’s state
A revised provisional merit list is expected to follow, incorporating corrections and additional eligible candidates; its release date has not yet been announced.
Eligibility for the State Quota Merit List
To find a place in the Assam state quota merit list, candidates must fulfil the following conditions:
- Domicile: The candidate, or their parent, must be a permanent resident of Assam and hold a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC).
- Residency in education: Candidates are generally required to have studied in Assam for a specified minimum period, as per DME norms.
- Qualifying percentile: Candidates must secure the minimum NEET UG 2026 qualifying percentile fixed by the NTA — 50th percentile for General category, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, and 45th percentile for PwD candidates.
- Registration: Only candidates who complete registration on the DME Assam counselling portal will be considered for the state merit list.

- Visit the official website, dme.assam.gov.in.
- Look under the “Latest Updates” or “Notifications” section on the homepage.
- Click on the link titled “Provisional State Merit List of NEET UG 2026”.
- The merit list will open on the screen in PDF format.
- Use Ctrl+F to search your roll number or name and check your state rank.
- Download and save the PDF for future reference during counselling.
