DU Admission 2026: As Delhi University progresses through its undergraduate counselling process, the varsity has released its latest vacancy matrix revealing that 13,433 UG seats remain vacant across 1,160 college-programme combinations. A total breakdown of the numbers shows that the Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) category accounts for the highest share of unfilled seats at 4,133, followed by Scheduled Tribes (ST) with 2,476, Unreserved (UR) with 2,113, Scheduled Castes (SC) with 2,038, and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) with 1,791 seats. Additionally, minority quota seats, including 566 Sikh and 316 Christian category slots, also remain open. Contrary to expectations that vacancies would persist only in off-campus institutions or lesser-demanded courses, high-profile North Campus colleges continue to offer open seats. DU Admission 2026 candidates now have a final opportunity to secure seats through the Spot Admission round, even in premier institutions like SRCC, Hindu College, and Hansraj College.
Vacancies Across Top Colleges
Hindu College: 29 seats remain open across 11 courses, including B.A. (Hons) Economics, B.Com (Hons), Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Philosophy.
Hansraj College: A broader vacancy of 79 seats across 19 programmes, spanning Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Electronics.
Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC): 4 seats remain unfilled—2 in B.A. (Hons) Economics (including 1 Unreserved seat) and 2 in B.Com (Hons) (1 OBC-NCL and 1 SC seat).
Significant course-level vacancies are also recorded at Swami Shraddhanand College, which leads with 145 vacant seats in B.Com, while the Institute of Home Economics and Lady Irwin College hold 131 and 101 vacant seats respectively in B.Sc (Pass) Home Science. Language and humanities disciplines at Kalindi College and Zakir Husain Delhi College also feature notable vacancies in Sanskrit, Hindi, and Persian.
DU Admission 2026 Guidelines
DU Admission 2026 Applicants who applied via the CSAS (UG) portal but were not allocated a seat in previous rounds are eligible for the Spot Admission round. Under DU rules, accepting an allocated seat in this round is mandatory; candidates who fail to accept will forfeit their eligibility for varsity admissions. Additionally, options for “Upgrade” or “Withdrawal” will no longer be available during the spot round phase.
