UGC NET re-exam admit card: Candidates appearing for the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination have just one day left to prepare, with the exam scheduled to begin tomorrow. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the re-exam for three subjects — English, Commerce, and Sociology — on September 9 and 10, after the original papers were found to contain multiple errors.

With the exam this close, candidates should use today to finalise logistics — confirming their exam centre, checking travel time, and reviewing exam-day rules — rather than leaving these details for the morning of the test.

Why This Re-Exam Is Being Held

The NTA had declared UGC NET June 2026 results for 84 of 87 subjects on August 28. However, following complaints about the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers, the agency set up a committee to examine the issues. The committee found several factual, typographical, and translation errors — including misspelled names of prominent scholars, garbled book titles, incorrectly worded question stems, and grammatical and punctuation mistakes. As a result, NTA announced a re-exam limited strictly to these three subjects, while results for the remaining 84 subjects stand unaffected.

Exam Schedule

Subject Date Shift Timing
English September 9, 2026 Shift 1 9 AM – 12 Noon
Commerce September 9, 2026 Shift 2 3 PM – 6 PM
Sociology September 10, 2026 Shift 1 9 AM – 12 Noon

Admit Card: What You Need to Know

The admit card for this re-exam was released by NTA on September 4 and is available for download at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates need their application number and date of birth (or password), plus a security pin, to log in and download it.

Before exam day, candidates should carefully verify the following details on their admit card:

  • Name, photograph, and signature
  • Subject code and medium
  • Exam city, centre, and shift
  • Reporting time

If a city-intimation slip was issued earlier (released September 1), cross-check it against the final admit card to make sure the city and date match. Any mismatch should be flagged well before exam day rather than discovered at the centre.

What to Carry to the Exam Centre

  • Printed admit card (along with the undertaking)
  • One original government-issued photo ID
  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Valid PwD certificate, if applicable (for scribe or compensatory time)

What NOT to Carry

Candidates should avoid bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, earphones, calculators, books, notes, metallic accessories, wallets, and caps. A transparent water bottle is allowed only if specifically permitted on the admit card.

Exam-Day Reminders

  • Expect frisking and biometric attendance before entry
  • Gate closure timings are strict — late arrival can mean denial of entry, so candidates should plan to reach well before the reporting time
  • Wear simple clothing with minimal metal components to speed up security checks
  • Eligible PwD candidates should carry their certificate to avail a scribe or compensatory time as per NTA rules

In Case of Issues

If there’s any discrepancy in the admit card or trouble downloading it, candidates should immediately contact the NTA Helpdesk at 011-40759000 or email ugcnet@nta.ac.in, rather than waiting until exam day to sort out the problem. Given the short window left before the exam, resolving any issue today is far safer than hoping it gets fixed at the last minute.

FAQs

Question: When is the UGC NET June re-exam being held?

Answer: The re-exam is scheduled for September 9 (English and Commerce) and September 10 (Sociology), 2026.

Question: Why is NTA conducting a re-exam for these three subjects?

Answer: NTA found factual, typographical, and translation errors in the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers during the original June session, prompting a re-conducted exam.

Question:  Where can candidates download their admit card?

Answer: The admit card is available at ugcnet.nta.nic.in using the application number and date of birth or password.
