March 13, 2024, New Delhi: Union Minister of Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, has inaugurated the common fellowship portal for doctoral and post-doctoral students. This centralized portal, developed to provide information about fellowships from various departments of the Government of India, aims to simplify and streamline the application process.
Key highlights of the common fellowship portal (fellowships.gov.in) include:
Simplified Process: The portal aims to save time and energy for aspiring students and startups by offering a simplified and streamlined application process.
Profile Creation: Candidates can create profiles and use the same information to auto-fill different application forms, eliminating the need for redundant data entry.
Collaboration: Initially, the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research have come together for submission of applications. Soon, other departments such as the Indian Council of Medical Research, University Grants Commission (UGC), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will also join the portal.
Eligibility Calculator: The portal features an eligibility calculator that allows applicants to verify their eligibility for various fellowship schemes.
Unique ID: It facilitates the generation of a unique ID called the ‘Common Fellowship Portal (CFP) ID,’ streamlining the application process and enabling candidates to apply for available fellowships from a single platform.
Data Analytics: The portal will serve to visualize the data analytics for Human Resource Development in science and technology.
The launch of this portal is expected to bridge the information gap for students seeking details of different fellowship programs by providing comprehensive information regarding eligibility and application in one place.
