Funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, the scholarship offers a fully funded one-year taught master’s degree at eligible universities across the UK. The application window opened on 4 August 2026 and closes on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC (4:30 PM IST).
Chev Scholarship 2027-28: Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Be an Indian citizen and agree to return to India for at least two years after completing the scholarship
- Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK upper second-class (2:1) honours degree
- Have at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience after completing their undergraduate degree
- Apply to three eligible UK master’s courses and secure an unconditional offer from at least one within the scholarship timeline

- Create a new account on the official Chevening online application portal
- Complete the application form with personal and professional details
- Submit required essays focusing on leadership, study plans and career goals
- Select three eligible UK master’s programmes
- Submit the application well before the deadline, as the portal will not accept submissions once it closes
Selection Timeline
Applications will first be checked against eligibility requirements starting October 2026, followed by assessment from independent reading committees. Candidates shortlisted for interviews can expect notification around mid-February 2027, with interviews conducted by panels at British embassies and high commissions. Those selected for interviews will need to upload supporting documents, including photo identification, undergraduate education records and reference letters, at least seven working days beforehand. Final results are expected from mid-June 2027, with successful scholars beginning their studies in the UK around September or October 2027.
Please do not leave your submission until the final hours before the deadline, as the online application system stops accepting entries when the window closes. Given the volume of applicants each year, starting the process early leaves more time to draft strong essays and gather supporting documents without last-minute pressure.
