Class 6 Girl Dies After 100 Sit-ups Punishment In SchoolNewsIMTS

A Class 6 girl died days after being made to perform '100 sit-ups' in school for coming late. Anshika Gaud, a student of a private school in Maharashtra's Palghar district, passed away in a Mumbai hospital on Friday night. She was allegedly punished on 8 November for reaching school late, along with four other students. The girl's mother claimed her daughter was forced to do sit-ups with her school bag on her back, which led to severe pain in her neck and back. According to MNS leader Sachin More, the girl was punished despite having pre-existing health conditions. Block Education Officer Pandurang Galange confirmed an inquiry is being conducted into the death. The school teacher stated it was unclear how many sit-ups the child had done or if that caused her death. No police complaint has been filed yet. The mother confronted the teacher, who reportedly justified the punishment saying parents accuse them of not teaching despite collecting fees. (Updated 16 Nov 2025, 13:03 IST; source: link)

Maharashtra Student Dies After Severe Punishment

A Class 6 student from Palghar district in Maharashtra died on Friday night after allegedly being forced to do 100 sit-ups as punishment for arriving late to school. Anshika Gaud was reportedly made to perform the exercise while wearing her school bag on November 8, along with four other students who were also late. According to her mother, this harsh punishment caused Anshika severe pain in her neck and back, which ultimately led to her death at a Mumbai hospital days later.

Investigation Underway as Questions Arise

Block Education Officer Pandurang Galange has confirmed that an official inquiry has been launched into the incident. The case has raised serious concerns as MNS leader Sachin More claimed the girl was punished despite having pre-existing health conditions. The school teacher involved has questioned whether the sit-ups directly caused the death and expressed uncertainty about how many exercises the student actually completed. Despite the severity of the incident, no police complaint has been filed yet. The teacher reportedly defended the punishment when confronted by the student's mother.
