On 27 July 2026, the School of Open Learning (SOL) at the University of Delhi announced the rollout of its DU SOL postgraduate courses in a one-year Master’s format via Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the 2026–27 academic session.
Designed specifically for Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) graduates under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF 2022), this new academic route allows eligible students to complete their higher studies in half the traditional time. Initially, distance learning options will cover five primary disciplines: M.Com, M.A. Political Science, M.A. History, M.A. Hindi, and M.A. Sanskrit. Selection remains strictly merit-based, evaluated across all eight semesters with a 50% aggregate minimum (45% for reserved categories).

This transition direct from a four-year bachelor’s degree to a single-year Master’s program aligns directly with the directives of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Under this framework, students who have successfully earned an Honours or Honours with Research degree in their undergraduate studies are exempted from repeating introductory coursework. Consequently, enrolling in DU SOL postgraduate courses under the accelerated structure offers an efficient shortcut to acquiring an advanced degree without compromising academic depth.
