The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) officially opened its registration and choice filling process on June 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM, exactly one day after the JEE Advanced 2026 result was declared. Candidates who have qualified in JEE Advanced 2026 (for IIT admissions) or secured a valid rank in JEE Main 2026 (for NIT, IIIT, and GFTI admissions) can now begin their registration at the official portal josaa.nic.in.
This is one of the most important steps for over 2.5 lakh engineering aspirants who will now compete for seats in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and over 40 other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) across India.

Who Is Eligible for JoSAA 2026?
- Candidates with a valid JEE Advanced 2026 rank — eligible for IIT seats
- Candidates with a valid JEE Main 2026 rank — eligible for NIT, IIIT, and GFTI seats
- Must have passed Class 12 with a minimum 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD) for IIT seats
- Must be in the top 20 percentile of their respective Class 12 board for IIT eligibility

- Authenticate using your JEE Main 2026 application number, name, mother’s name, and date of birth
- Verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email
- Log in and fill in your programme and institute preferences in order of priority
- Lock your choices before the June 11 deadline — choices cannot be changed after locking
What Happens After Choice Filling?
Two mock seat allocation rounds on June 8 and June 10 will help students understand their likely allotment before the actual round begins. The first real seat allotment will be released on June 13. After each round, candidates must report to their allotted institute online and pay the seat acceptance fee to secure their seat.
Registration for JoSAA 2026 is completely free. No fee is charged for the counselling process itself. Seat acceptance fees are charged only after allotment.
