With the JoSAA 2026 Mock Allotment Round 1 releasing today, June 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the official portal @josaa.nic.in, engineering aspirants competing for 67,323 seats at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are entering the most critical 72 hours of the entire counselling process.

Candidates can and should revise their preferences after seeing the mock result, up until the June 11, 2026 lock deadline at 5:00 PM.

How to Use Mock Allotment Round 1 Strategically
After seeing your Round 1 mock allotment on June 8:
- Ask: Is this the best realistic option in my list? Could a better preference be placed higher without losing the current allotment?
- Add new choices you may have missed — you can still add any IIT, NIT, or IIIT programme before June 11
- Reorder existing preferences based on what the mock result shows
- Check if female supernumerary seats at preferred IITs or NITs are included in your list
- Verify Home State vs Other State quota designations for NITs
Post-Allotment Options for Round 1 (June 13 onwards)
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Freeze | Accept Round 1 allotment permanently |
| Slide | Accept but try for better branch at same institute in Round 2 |
| Float | Accept but try for any better overall preference in Round 2 |
Seat Acceptance Fee (Charged After Allotment)

This is an advance against college fees, not an additional charge.
