Kerala Govt Hikes DA for UGC, AICTE Teaching StaffNewsIMTS

The Kerala government ordered an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for teaching staff under UGC, AICTE, and medical education schemes on 15/11/2024. DA for staff who shifted to revised scale from January this year will rise from 42% to 46%. Those continuing in the sixth pay scale will see DA increase from 221% to 230%. Dearness Relief for UGC pensioners will also increase by similar percentages. The enhanced DA will be payable with October 2025 salary, while increased DR applies from November 2025. From Thursday, DA for state government employees, teachers, and staff of aided institutions was hiked from 18% to 22%. Until implementation, the hike remains subject to fund availability for grant-in-aid institutions. Next, organizations like Kerala State Electricity Board and KSRTC will issue separate DA-DR orders as per existing practice. (Updated 31 Oct 2025, 15:52 IST; source: link)

Kerala Increases Dearness Allowance for Teaching Staff

The Kerala government has approved a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for teaching staff working under University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and medical education schemes. For staff who shifted to the revised pay scale from January 2016, the DA will increase from 42% to 46%. Meanwhile, those still following the sixth pay scale will receive an increase from 221% to 230%. This decision was announced on November 15, 2024, and the enhanced allowance will be included with October 2025 salaries.

Dearness Relief for Pensioners Also Increased

Along with the DA hike for current employees, the Kerala government has also raised Dearness Relief (DR) for UGC pensioners by similar percentages. The increased DR will take effect from November 2025. This follows a recent increase in DA for state government employees, teachers, and staff of aided institutions, which was raised from 18% to 22%. For grant-in-aid institutions, the implementation depends on fund availability. Other organizations like Kerala State Electricity Board and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation will issue separate orders for DA and DR increases as per existing practice.
