Bhopal, March 4, 2024: Madhya Pradesh Police has formally lodged an FIR against Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya’s (RGPV) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunil Kumar and 4 other university officials over allegations of massive financial misappropriations worth crores recently detected through internal audit processes.
The issue came to light after incumbent Registrar Mohan Sen apprised CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan regarding serious ongoing irregularities who instantly ordered high-level inquiries besides transfers of finance department personnel considered complicit or lacking oversight.
As per initial fact-finding inputs presented to Gandhi Nagar Police station highlighting criminal conspiracy and corruption, around Rs 19 crores were illegally channelized into certain private accounts using forged means over time.
Another instance pertains to 4 fixed deposit receipts worth Rs 25 crores each fraudulently created abusing positions of power. Primefacie proofs are sufficient for invoking relevant cheating, forgery, and prevention of corruption clauses as per officials.
While the accused VC is presently on leave for unrelated reasons, has not been arrested yet pending investigations. But exemplary action has been assured against those guiltily involved by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan sending a stern message affirming good governance commitments.
By taking immediate transparent action, authorities have contained potentially larger damages while underscoring that lawlessness even in elite institutional roles damages public trust which is sacrosanct. Uncompromising accountability hence remains vital.
