The Mumbai University APAAR ID rule has come into effect, with the university confirming that students will not be able to generate their exam hall tickets without a valid APAAR ID. The university has urged students facing issues with APAAR ID creation, ABC ID linking, or Aadhaar authentication to complete the process without delay, warning that incomplete records could affect their ability to appear for upcoming examinations.
Why Mumbai University APAAR ID Has Been Made Mandatory
The new requirement stems from the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registration system introduced under the National Education Policy 2020, which is designed to digitally track a student’s entire academic journey. The ID is used to link academic records, credits, and various academic processes in digital form.
Following directions from the central government to speed up Mumbai University APAAR ID generation across institutions, the university has now made it compulsory specifically for hall ticket issuance, meaning students without the ID risk being unable to download their admit card for upcoming exams.
What Students and Colleges Need to Do
Affiliated colleges have been made responsible for informing students whose Mumbai University APAAR ID process remains incomplete and ensuring maximum participation in facilitation efforts. The university has directed colleges to communicate this requirement to students urgently, cautioning against last-minute delays since hall tickets simply will not be generated without the ID in place. Students facing technical issues while creating their APAAR ID, discrepancies in Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers, or mismatches in name or date of birth are particularly encouraged to resolve these promptly.
Special Aadhaar Facilitation Camp: August 19–20
To help students clear pending issues quickly, a special Aadhaar facilitation camp will be held on 19 and 20 August 2026, from 10 AM to 4 PM, at the Alkesh Dinesh Modi Institute for Financial and Management Studies on the Kalina campus.
Organised in coordination with the Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation, the camp will assist students with creating their APAAR ID, linking it to their ABC ID, completing Aadhaar authentication, and resolving mismatches in mobile numbers, names, or dates of birth.
Students attending have been asked to carry their Aadhaar card along with any supporting documents needed to resolve their specific issue. With this move, the Mumbai University APAAR ID mandate joins a growing list of similar rules already in force for board exams and state-level entrance tests, reflecting a broader national push toward linking every student record to a single digital identity.
