NMC Approves 100 More MBBS Seats: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 100 more MBBS seats for two government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the 2026-27 academic year. According to the latest update as of 11 July 2026, the NMC has issued a Letter of Permission (LOP) granting 75 additional seats to Kadapa Government Medical College and 25 additional seats to ACSR Government Medical College, Nellore, boosting the total MBBS intake capacity across the state.
Seat-Wise Breakup of the New Approval
This latest NMC approval brings welcome news for medical aspirants in Andhra Pradesh, particularly those targeting state quota seats through NEET UG counselling. Kadapa Government Medical College has been granted the larger share of the increase with 75 new seats, while ACSR Government Medical College in Nellore has received approval for 25 additional seats.

With this addition, Andhra Pradesh’s overall government MBBS seat count — previously reported at over 3,400 seats across the state’s government medical colleges — is set to rise further for the upcoming admission cycle.
What This Means for NEET UG Aspirants
NMC Approves 100 More MBBS Seats to improve admission prospects for NEET UG-qualified candidates seeking government medical college seats in Andhra Pradesh, where competition for state quota seats remains intense. Seats at government medical colleges in the state are filled through Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences counselling, with 85% reserved for the state quota and 15% allotted through the All India Quota via MCC.
This move follows a broader pattern seen across the country this year, with the NMC approving thousands of new MBBS seats nationally for the 2026-27 session as part of efforts to expand medical education capacity. Candidates preparing for AP NEET UG counselling 2026 are advised to keep track of the official seat matrix, as the addition of these 100 new seats may be reflected in the updated allotment lists once counselling for the new academic session begins.
