The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Tamil Nadu, has opened TANCET choice filling for MBA admissions today, 1 August 2026, on the official counselling portal, tn-mbamca.com. Candidates who feature in the TANCET 2026 MBA rank list can now log in, pay the initial deposit, and lock their college-programme preferences for admission to over 15,000 seats across Tamil Nadu.
This follows the MCA choice filling round, which concluded earlier, and the release of the consolidated MBA rank list on 16 July 2026 after a five-day grievance window. The counselling is administered by DTE through the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, covering government, government-aided, university department, and surrendered self-financing seats across the state.
TANCET Choice Filling 2026: Key Dates
- Payment and choice filling window: 1 to 4 August 2026 (up to 5:00 PM)
- Publication of tentative allotment: 6 August 2026
- Confirmation of tentative allotment: 7 August 2026 (up to 5:00 PM)
- Publication of provisional allotment: 9 August 2026
Candidates should treat the confirmation deadline as the most critical date in this cycle, since missing it by even a few minutes results in automatic forfeiture of the tentative seat.
How to Complete TANCET Choice Filling
- Visit the official portal, tn-mbamca.com, and log in with the credentials created during counselling registration.
- Pay the initial deposit, which is required before choices can be locked.
- Go to the choice filling section and select college-specialisation combinations from the master list in order of preference.
- Add as many options as possible, since a longer preference list improves the chances of securing a seat in the general round.
- Save and lock the choices before the 4 August deadline; changes are not accepted afterward.
Registration Fee and Initial Deposit
Before preferences can be locked, candidates must clear an initial deposit. This is set at Rs 5,000 for OC, BC, BCM, MBC, and DNC candidates, and Rs 1,000 for SC, SCA, and ST candidates from Tamil Nadu. This is separate from the earlier counselling registration fee of Rs 800 (general) or Rs 400 (reserved categories), which was already paid at the time of registration.
Candidates from other states are evaluated under the Open Competition category and are not eligible for Tamil Nadu’s communal reservation benefits, though they remain free to compete for seats on merit.
