The registration window for UGC NET June 2026 closed on May 24, 2026. Candidates who registered in time are now preparing for the examination that is the single most important qualifier for Assistant Professor posts and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) opportunities across universities and colleges in India.
UGC NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency on behalf of the University Grants Commission. It is held twice a year and covers 87 subjects across humanities, social sciences, commerce, sciences, and professional disciplines.
Who Was Eligible to Apply
- Must hold a Master’s degree with minimum 55 percent marks from a UGC-recognized university (50 percent for reserved categories)
- Final-year PG students could apply provisionally
- JRF age limit: 30 years, with relaxation of up to 5 years for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and Women candidates
- No upper age limit for the Assistant Professor eligibility route
