Uttar Pradesh has topped the country in UP APAAR ID creation across both school and higher education, according to official data released on 20 July 2026. The state has generated a combined total of over 3.69 crore Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs, covering students from school level through higher education.
APAAR ID serves as a permanent digital academic identity for every student, securely storing academic records on a single platform and enabling seamless access to educational services such as admissions, scholarships, examinations, and employment-related processes.

School Education: UP Tops the List
In school education, Uttar Pradesh has generated 2,95,90,359 APAAR IDs, the highest among all states. It is followed by:

- Maharashtra: 55,52,064 APAAR IDs
- Rajasthan: 42,16,422 APAAR IDs
Together, the school and higher education figures add up to more than 3.69 crore APAAR IDs created in the state.
Behind the Push
The state government has directed the timely mapping of academic records, including degrees, diplomas, mark sheets, transcripts, and certificates, with APAAR IDs, along with their upload to platforms such as the National Academic Depository (NAD) and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). Universities and institutions have been instructed to complete uploads for the 2025 academic session by July 2026, while continuing to meet examination and evaluation timelines.
