Uttar Pradesh, February 26, 2024: The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has launched free computer courses specially for Other Backward Class (OBC) category students in the state. This is an excellent opportunity for economically disadvantaged OBC students to gain computer education and enhance their employment potential.
Under the initiative named ‘Computer Saksharta Mission’, OBC students can avail two types of courses – CCC and O-Level – completely free of cost. The courses will be conducted through authorized training institutes affiliated to the UP Electronics Corporation (UPEC).
Details of Courses Available:
1. CCC:
Stands for ‘Course on Computer Concepts’
80-hour basic computer literacy program
Covers fundamentals of IT, operating systems, common software
2. O-Level:
Orientation level syllabus as per global standards
Advances CCC course
Includes operating systems, programming, networking fundamentals
The free OBC quota aims to provide computer education to around 75,000 beneficiaries this year across UP. It intends to equip them with digital and IT skills for various jobs or self-employment avenues aligned to the IT sector’s rapid growth.
Eligibility and Application Process:
Only OBC cardholders domiciled in UP are eligible
Minimum qualification – Class 8 pass
Age Limit – 14 to 45 years
Can apply online via UPEC’s website and submit documents at institutes
By providing hands-on access and training in the latest computer applications, the UP government strives to increase technology usage and opportunities for the OBC youth. It will boost their competitiveness for private and public sector technology roles in the state.
