A Parliamentary Standing Committee has formally summoned officials from the Union Education Ministry and Central Board of Secondary Education for back-to-back meetings on June 1 and June 2, 2026. The committee will examine multiple education-related controversies that have dominated public discourse in recent weeks.
On June 1, the agenda includes a discussion on the use of pen-and-paper testing versus computer-based testing, review of the National Testing Agency’s conduct, and post-cancellation developments around NEET UG 2026. On June 2, the panel will specifically scrutinise the On-Screen Marking system deployed by CBSE for Class 12 evaluations and the widespread complaints about answer sheet mix-ups, blurred scans, and payment failures. The three-language policy for Classes 9 and 10, which has drawn opposition from Tamil Nadu and other southern states, will also be reviewed.
This level of parliamentary scrutiny directly following the CBSE results season and the NEET cancellation is unprecedented and signals that legislative oversight of examination governance is intensifying. Students, parents, and education bodies will closely watch the outcome of these sessions.
