The University of Delhi (DU) has opened registrations for its brand-new one-year Postgraduate programme, starting July 5, 2026, marking the first time such a course has been offered under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. Candidates can apply online through the official portal, with the application window closing on July 11, 2026, at 11:59 pm. This DU PG Admission 2026 cycle for the one-year Master’s track runs alongside the university’s ongoing two-year PG and undergraduate admission processes, both of which are also progressing through their respective phases this month.
Who Can Apply for the One-Year Master’s Programme
Not every DU graduate qualifies for this route. Eligibility is restricted to students who:

- Completed a four-year undergraduate degree under DU’s Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022
- Earned the required academic credits during their undergraduate years
- Meet the specific eligibility conditions listed for their chosen postgraduate course
Under NEP 2020, this pathway lets four-year UG degree holders move directly into a one-year Master’s, skipping the traditional two-year format — a structural shift that has drawn mixed reactions, with some students who completed three-year UG degrees pointing out they remain ineligible for this route.
How Admission Will Be Decided
Unlike the CUET-PG-based system used for regular two-year courses, DU PG Admission 2026 for the one-year programme will be decided purely on merit, based on scores secured in the four-year Bachelor’s degree. No separate entrance test is required for this track.
Steps to Apply Online
- Visit the official DU PG admission portal
- Register using your academic and personal details
- Fill in your programme and college preferences
- Upload the required documents (mark sheets, degree certificate, category certificates, if applicable)
- Pay the applicable application fee
- Submit before the July 11 deadline and download the confirmation for your records
Other Admissions Running Alongside
DU has simultaneously opened applications for its two-year M.Sc. in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology for GAT-B 2026-qualified candidates. Meanwhile, undergraduate admissions under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) are in their final preference-filling stage, with over 1.48 lakh students registered and more than 62,000 candidates having completed Phase II by July 5.
Students eligible for the one-year Master’s route are advised not to delay, given the tight six-day application window. Applicants should regularly check the official portal and their registered email for updates, corrections, or extensions to the DU PG Admission 2026 schedule.
